- Poechenellekelder – quirky, nice beer selection, next to Mannekin Pis
- QUAY 01 – deep house (and techno) club on the canal, bougier crowd than Fuse but still people are there for the music
Bourse/De Brouckere
- Roosters – expats galore, tourists in town, but less intense than Delirium next door
- Le cirio – oldest bar, casual, chill, older crowds
- Aux bon vieux temps – fine but go to the one below (next door) for nicer staff, down a hidden alley
- A l’image de nostre dame – kind staff, local feel, cool location down a hidden alley
- Celtica – tourist trap, grinding on the dance floor…
- Nua – karaoke! same company as Irish bar, never closes
- O’Reilly’s – Irish pub, expensive beers, always playing soccer
- Bar les gens que j’aime – couches upstairs, chill
- Bonnefoi – the place for ‘afters’, never closes, djs, gets too crowded but cool spot
- Viage – rooftop above Casino in warmer months every Thursday night, bougie but awesome
Halles Saint Gery
- Zebra – loud music day and night, cheap
- Darwin Cafe – looks bougie, great owners, djs on weekends, older crowd
- Mezzo – salsa bar, touristy crowd, fun dancing on weekend but watch for creeps, bogo cocktail happy hour
- Mappo Mundo – lovely, one of the best bars of Bxl, good music, still chill, amazing atmosphere
- Le Roi des Belges – lovely, one of the best bars of Bxl, good music on weekends, cafe by day
- La Machine – steampunk bar, cool atmosphere
- Halles Saint Gery – old marketplace, classic, bar any time/cafe by day
- Bison – live music, casual
- Cafe Central – nice beer selection, usually loud experimental music, local
- L’Archiduc – jazz bar, live music on weekends, small and gets busy, older crowd
Grand Place
- Au Brasseur – near Grand Place, casual
- Delirium/Floris Bar – classic, largest selection of beers on tap in the world, tourists and locals / absinthe bar
- Goupil Le Fol – lovely, my favorite bar in Bxl, stay for hours, get the framboise cassis drink, couches like someone’s house, french & Jacques Brel always playing
- Epicerie Moderne – “club”, underground music and crowd, closing
- Up Club – djs on weekends, perfect location, weird crowd, tiny
- ZODIAK – (my favorite) club (in Brussels), techno, open till 8am on weekends, local crowd that’s there for the music, cool people
Galerie Royale Saint Hubert
- Le Cerceuil – “skull bar” – your beers are served in skull mugs, for people into rock music
- Benelux – cocktail bar, nice space, djs on weekends
- Scott’s Bar – very new, huge spot, expat home
